Trinidad Romero (June 15, 1835 – August 28, 1918) was an American politician and rancher who was the Delegate to United States Congress from the Territory of New Mexico. Born in Santa Fe, Nuévo Mexico, he was educated by private tutors and also received some formal schooling. Jose Felipe Chaves was born in Los Padillas, N.M. in 1834. After a flood in Los Padillas, Felipe and his wife, Josefa moved to Belen and opened a general merchandise store. They later expanded their business to include cattle and sheep ranching. Felipe also established a private school for girls in Belen. He died May 16, 1905.
